Miy Easy Kids Craft Project: "Plate Art"

Materials & Tools:
•Clear glass plates, dishes or chinaware (available at dollar stores)
•Newspapers or a plastic sheet
•Rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth
•Porcelaine 150 and or Vitrea 160 felt tipped markers by Pébéo in assorted colors
•Damp cloth and mild detergent
•an oven(Materials for this project are available at arts, craft stores and above mention stores.)

MIY INSTRUCTIONS: Have your young budding artists transform plain dishes into true keepsakes to cherish. Children can have fun using (Porcelaine 150 and or Vitrea 160) felt tipped paint markers to add imaginative designs to their plates, bowls, cups and glasses. Easy to use, simply apply assorted designs using the markers directly onto various items. The designs drawings don’t have to be complicated. Designs can range from simple swirls, basic geometric shapes, and their favourite subject or even tell a whole story.

The Porcelaine 150 markers create bright opaque colors, while the Vitrea 160 have more translucent like colors. Both brush-tip felts are especially designed for drawing directly onto assorted glass or chinaware items. The vivid colors will liven up plain flatware in no time at all and will pop up against the contrast of a clear or white background. The paint markers are quick drying.

Prepare the dishes in order for the paint to adhere properly to the surface of the dishes by washing them first with soapy water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth or clean the surface with rubbing alcohol.Place newspapers or a plastic sheet on a work table area. Have a range of assorted colors available in the Porcelaine 150 and or Vitrea 160 markers. The markers are easy to use freehand style allowing young ones to become quite creative - you might be amazed by their creations.

Give the markers a few shakes, and then start the felt tip by applying it on a tile or glass item, but not on paper. The paint colors simply glide onto the glass surface. Several colors can be added. You can even combine the opaque Porcelaine 150 colors with the translucent Vitrea 160 markers or paints.Just let their imagination create whatever inspires them using the felt tipped markers directly onto glassware or chinaware items. They can draw or scribble away whatever their little hearts content. It's as easy as that. The Porcelaine 150 and Vitrea 160 paint marker designs will dry quickly and be tack-free to the touch in less than one hour. They can also be used to add assorted fun details such as swirls, dots, lines to text, letters or numbers to decorate their works of art.

Once the designs are completed, let the paints air dry and set for 24 hours before baking it. Place the painted glass or chinaware items in a cold oven and when the temperature of the oven has reached 300 degrees F (150 degrees C), bake for 35 minutes.

Once baked, the colors are fully cured. Remove the glass or chinaware items from the oven using oven mitts, and let them cool before handling.

Miy Variations of this miy easy kids craft:
•Add a touch of color and style to numerous other items around your home such as mugs to give to grandparents, candle holders, ceramic jewellery boxes, and tiles to make hot plates, salt and pepper shakers, galvanized items, trays, vases, buckets, ceramic lamp bases. The paint markers can also be used with stencils and rubber stamps.

If you don’t want to end up with a few unwanted masterpieces around your home, when not in use keep these paint markers out of the reach of younger children. Just make sure that they are used under your supervision.

Miy Tips: There are no mistakes with this project. Should your child be a little perfectionist and not be pleased with his or her art work, simply wipe it off the plates using rubbing alcohol on a lint-free cloth, and continue or start over. They can change their minds as often as they want, but once the glass or chinaware is baked, the colors are permanent.
