GARDEN FURNITURE TIPS:
Refinishing Garden Furniture; painting, staining and finishing coats.
•I like using gel stains to refinish certain wooden projects because they are low-odor, and they do not drip, run or leave streak marks. They give great color results, and bring out the wood's natural beauty. To achieve a darker stain color, repeat the stain application or to lighten a stain color, use a thinner-dampened rag to wipe until desired color is achieved on a just-stained item.
•To prolong the stain life and colors of a newly stained garden bench, furniture or item; Make sure you give your outdoor furniture the right top coat application, 2 to 3 coats, keep it clean and bring it indoors for the winter, or simply cover it up.

Miy Variations:
•To give your freshly painted or stain outdoor furniture a weathered look, use an old wire brush to rough it up after the paint or stain you applied are dry, and then use an old paint to apply the paints using the a dry-brushing technique over the base coat.
•The same style of finish can also be applied to chairs, wicker furniture and picnic tables. For a contemporary look try color blocking, or adding stripes in several colors and incorporating geometric and organic shapes in your artwork.
•Kids can help embellish their own garden area table. For a quick and easy flower stamp idea, take seven wine corks and bind them together with duck tape to form a flower formation, standing the ends flat, leaving them exposed in order to paint and stamp. Paint them in assorted colors and stamp randomly all over the bench or table, let dry, and then varnish
